In Berlin, Volkswagen has revealed the 6th generation of the Polo. The new generation Polo will be launch in Public at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor show in September. The car received major upgrades at the interior and exterior.
The new generation car will be sold in 3 versions, Trendline, Comfortline and Highline variants. Also company added special edition of Polo, which is ‘Beat Edition’ with the high sound surround system and high powerful version of the Polo GTI. There is no information when Volkswagen will launch the Polo in India, but from the source it is expected that it will launch in 2018.
2018 Volkswagen Polo is basically based on the A0 version of MQB platform and the previous version of Polo was based on PQ25 platform. The car has LED headlamps wit LED DRLs, Wider tyres, roof spoiler and panoramic sunroof and the Polo GTI gets some extra features like 17 inch alloy wheels, honeycomb grille with a GTI badge, LED tail lamps and dual chrome exhausts.
Polo will get a 5 engine options, 4 petrol and 1 diesel engine:
- 0 litre MPI petrol engine avail in 2 states of tune, 64hp and 73hp.
- 0 litre TSI 3 cylinder petrol engine that also generates 2 states of tunes, 93 hp and 113 hp.
- 5 litre TSI 4 cylinder unit which makes 148 hp.
- Diesel engine option will be a 1.6 litre TDI 4 cylinder unit which deliver 78 hp and 93 hp.
- Polo GTI get 2.0 litre TSI motor that makes 197 hp.
2018 Volkswagen Polo gets touchscreen infotainment system, flat bottomed steering wheel, Active Info Display digital instrument cluster and keyless entry and steering mounted controls. Company is giving the console display options in 2 options which is 6.5 inch and 8 inch unit.
Polo has safety features which includes Front Assist Area Monitoring System with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring. German Company added some optional features that includes adaptive cruise control, lane change detection with rear traffic alert and semi automated park assist and blind spot detection.
